Recent legal decisions are rapidly changing a few areas of IP law in the United States. In this webinar, we will seek to: (1) update recent changes in patent eligibility (§101), obviousness, and written description; (2) identify U.S. issues that may be important to drafting IP and advising Australian and New Zealand clients in creating assignment documents, licensing patents (exhaustion), and enforcing IP (damages, venue, willful infringement); (3) raise issues relevant to protecting the attorney-client privilege in the U.S. arising from practice in Australia and New Zealand; and (4) survey overall trends in U.S. patent law. If there is enough time, we will end with a very quick update on U.S. trademark law.
