Save the innovation patent campaign
10/12/18
For the past year, IPTA has been actively lobbying the Government to retain the innovation patent system. This work has involved liaising with many Australian business owners and co-ordinating the preparation of letters and submissions as well as organising meetings of Australian innovators with representatives from the Government, Opposition, IP Australia and cross-bench Senators.
These efforts paid off when the Government withdrew the relevant innovation patent provisions from the Intellectual Property Laws Amendment, (Productivity Commission Response Part 1 and Other Measures), Bill 2018, which was enacted earlier this year. Nevertheless, the Government is determined to abolish the innovation patent system. For this reason, IPTA has produced the following video in which Australian business owners present their independent views about the innovation patent and the ramifications should it be abolished.
IPTA plans to distribute this video to relevant stakeholders, the media and politicians, to give us the best chance of persuading the Government to retain the innovation patent system. With this in mind, IPTA encourages its members to join the “save the innovation patent campaign” by posting a link of the video on their websites and social media sites, such as LinkedIn and Twitter.
IPTA is grateful to all members that have been involved in the identification of innovators who support this important cause
